Edge rushers dominate the DL tier

Edge rushers with 60+ pressures and 10+ sack floors are the safest DL bets. Look for players on defenses that generate consistent pass-rush opportunities, not just talented individuals on bad defenses.

Age curve for defensive linemen

DL production tends to peak between ages 25–29. Explosive edge rushers can dominate earlier, while savvy technicians extend value into their early 30s. Rookies rarely produce top-tier IDP numbers in year one.

FAQ

What scoring do IDP DL rankings use?

Values are tuned for balanced IDP scoring (1 pt tackle, 4 pt sack, big-play bonuses). Elite edge rushers with 15+ sack ceilings sit at the top.

Do interior DTs have dynasty value?

Only elite ones (Aaron Donald tier). Most IDP leagues classify by DL rather than DE/DT, so interior sack producers can be viable starters.

How stable are DL rankings year-to-year?

Less stable than LB. Sack totals are volatile — target rushers with high pressure rates rather than one-year sack spikes.
